The Story so Far...

Time Crisis 2, in arcade form, is the finest gun game to ever grace our amusement halls. It was slick, it was accurate and it simply oozed quality. While the game unfolded, the tension became almost unbearable as you clung onto your final grain of health, attempting to reach those final stages that had previously eluded you.

Many said that the orginal Time Crisis was a game that could never be converted onto the Playstation. Regardless of how powerful the console was considered to be, it surely could not cope with the demand of Namco's Super System 22 arcade board.

Light gun games have been few and far between on the Playstation games console and are regarded as a bit of a novelty that quickly wears thin. The difference between dropping a few coins in the slot down at the arcades before blasting all and sundry for about five minutes, and sitting in the comfort of your armchair at home waving a gun at the TV screen for several weeks is immense. Especially if the game is substandard and lacks accuracy, which was precisely the case with early attempts at this genre in titles such as Crypt Killers and Area 51. Die Hard Trilogy was a fair attempt but was dogged by an inaccurate peripheral that only Lenny the Cross-eyed Lion could possibly have any success with.

The Playstation version of Time Crisis, on the other hand, was almost as good as having an Arcade system in your front room... and far less expensive.

Now we find that Namco are soon to release the long awaited sequel... Time Crisis: Project Titan.

The game promises a host of brand new stages and masses of tension packed action that should soon get those trigger fingers flexing once more.

Play the part of Richard Miller, a special agent assigned to rescue Rachel, the president’s daughter. She’s being held hostage by Sherudo Garo and his hired team of henchmen. Garo threatens to kill Rachel unless he is handed over the throne. It’s up to you to save Rachel and save the government from anarchy.

Select from either "Story" mode or "Timed" mode. In Story mode you play each of the three stages in sequence. In Timed mode you can select any of the three modes, but time is limited. It’s a great way to practice!

The best news must be that the developers have completely re-coded the game from scratch rather than just adding new levels to the previous game engine. This means that they will be able to take full advantage of the very latest developments in coding for the playstation that have seen high resolution visuals that no-one could ever have predicted would be possible from our little grey box.

A new multi-hiding system will completely change the gameplay, giving you far more flexibility and reducing the regimental nature of the first game.

Its still going to be a single player game, which is a shame, but multiple game modes and tons of options should make up for this loss.

So, it's almost time to dust off the holster, re-load your GunCon and prepare for action as Namco unveils the long awaited sequel to Time Crisis. New stages, new action and all new game modes... We can't wait!
